The CBF announced today that Charles W. Douglas, a Partner at Sidley Austin and a prominent member of Chicago’s legal community, will chair the 2010 CBF Investing in Justice Campaign.

Each year in March, thousands of lawyers and legal professionals from throughout Chicago’s legal community come together around a cause uniquely important to the legal profession: building the capacity of our overburdened pro bono and legal aid system to help ensure that everyone in need in our community has access to justice.

The Campaign is a unique opportunity to invest in the entire pro bono and legal aid system with one contribution. With one gift to the Campaign, donors

• Support all of our community’s many outstanding legal aid organizations;

• Help the dedicated attorneys pursuing legal aid careers and make it possible for pro bono attorneys to most effectively supplement their efforts; and

• Underwrite innovative projects that make our justice system more user-friendly and accessible for those in need.

Thanks to the generosity of thousands of individuals making personal contributions and the over 60 participating law firms and corporate law departments, the Campaign has raised nearly $3 million in just three years.  Each year, 100% of the funds raised in the Campaign are used for CBF grants to advance the work of our community’s pro bono and legal aid organizations and a number of innovative access to justice projects.  All expenses associated with the Campaign are either donated or underwritten by the CBF.

The 4th Annual CBF Investing in Justice Campaign will kick off in March, 2010 and preparations already are underway.  For more information about the Campaign and how firms and corporations can get involved, contact David Gee at 312-554-1209 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
