Danielle Elyce Hirsch joined the Chicago Bar Foundation in September 2008 as Director of Advocacy. Danielle is responsible for leadership, oversight and management of policy advocacy activities for the Chicago Bar Foundation that improve access to justice on a systemic level.Before joining the Chicago Bar Foundation, Danielle was an associate with the K&L Gates law firm in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she represented clients in complex civil and insurance coverage litigation. Danielle was a Law Clerk for the Honorable William Wayne Justice of the US District Court, Western District of Texas from 2004-2005. Danielle was also a Law Clerk for Justice ZM Yacoob of the Constitutional Court of South Africa in 2006.
Danielle graduated from Oberlin College with high honors and earned her JD from the University of Illinois College of Law, where she graduated summa cum laude and was elected to the Order of the Coif. Danielle is also the author of two legal publications, “A Defense of Structural Injunctive Remedies in South African Law,” in the Oregon Review of International Law and “Recognizing Race in Women’s Programming: A Critique of a Women’s Law Society,” in the Berkeley Women’s Law Journal.
