David Gee

Director of Development

david2David Gee joined The Chicago Bar Foundation in December 2005 as Director of Development. In collaboration with the Executive Director, the CBF staff and Board of Directors, he oversees all aspects of the CBF’s resource development. He is charged with designing and implementing a comprehensive development strategy while fostering and strengthening donor relationships and helping to promote the CBF’s strategic role in ensuring equal access to justice in the community. David works closely with the CBF Marketing and Development Committees and other key volunteers, and, in 2007 he managed the successful launch of the CBF’s groundbreaking annual Investing in Justice Campaign- which more than quadrupled their donor ranks to more than 2500 individuals in its first two years.

Prior to joining the CBF, David enjoyed 18 successful years as a professional actor in Chicago after receiving his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre from Illinois Wesleyan University.  He is currently a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, co-chairs the Public Foundation Fundraisers’ Network at the Donors Forum, and is the Treasurer of The National Conference of Bar Foundations. David is also a founding member and current board chair of Ravenswood Community Services, a community-based non-profit organization focused on hunger relief and social justice initiatives in Chicago’s North side communities.

David lives on the Northwest side of Chicago with his wife and two sons.
